1992:The establishment of IBB Hotels: Damián Llull, with experience gained during employment as a director in the Riu Hotels chain, set up his own company. Managing 20 holiday apartments on the island of Menorca, he created the foundations of an international chain. The island of Menorca remains the main headquarters of the company
1993-1998:The expansion of IBB Hotels: New hotels are added to the chain, among others in Cala Punta Prima. The chain opens new hotels in continental Spain - in Vielha, in the Pyrenees and in the cities of Vigo and Valencia.
2002:The Von der Heyden Group acquires 50% of the shares in IBB Hotels: Sven von der Heyden becomes one of the shareholders. Thanks to the strong position of the Von der Heyden Group, IBB Hotels becomes the first Spanish hotel chain to enter the Polish market. IBB Hotels commences operations in Poland in one of the finest historical buildings in Lublin – the four-star Grand Hotel Lublinianka.
2006:IBB Hotels in Germany: IBB Hotels plans to continue expanding on the European markets. In the summer of 2006 the company opens a charming hotel in Erfurt. The building is located in the very centre of the historic Old Town, constituting an excellent addition to the portfolio of facilities managed by IBB Hotels.
2007:IBB Hotels opens its second hotel in Poland: IBB Hotel Andersia opens in Poznań. This hotel is the most modern building in the entire IBB Hotels chain. The four-star hotel is located in the heart of the modern city centre and offers superb conference and banqueting facilities. The IBB Hotels strengthens its position on the business hotels market.
2008:IBB Hotels opens a second hotel in Germany: In August IBB Hotel Passau welcomed its first guests under the IBB Hotels banner. Its convenient location in the centre of this picturesque city, signifies that another important step has been taken by IBB Hotels on the German market.
2008: Von der Heyden Group acquires 70% of the shares in IBB Hotels: Von der Heyden Group became a majority shareholder of IBB Hotels. The Spanish chain plans to continue its development throughout Europe.
